Learn about the common symptoms of arthritis in children. Discover how to identify and manage them effectively.
Kids With Arthritis NZ Charitable Trust provides practical support, encouragement, and information to children with arthritis and other auto-immune conditions, and their families/whanau. We arrange events for our nationwide network of families so that they can meet others, share their stories, make friendships, and know that they are not alone on their arthritis journey. Another key activity for us is to raise awareness in the community that ‘even kids get arthritis’.
Discover the latest treatments available for children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). Find hope and support for managing this condition. The main goal of treating arthritis in children is to improve joint health quickly with medications. These medicines reduce pain and stiffness and protect the joints. Children can then do exercises to strengthen muscles and keep their joints moving, but the choice of medication depends on the type of arthritis they have.

Explore practical ways to support and comfort children with JIA. Empower your child by involving them in decisions about their JIA and teaching them about their medication to foster independence.
Focus on the present, make time for family fun, and maintain normal routines like school and activities. Stay informed about the condition to advocate effectively for your child, and remember that each child’s journey is unique, with a tailored treatment plan from medical professionals.
